The Story
This project started in 1990 when my dad picked up some part time work as a US census taker. As he approached a house in Incline Village Nevada he noticed this bus. It was under a large sheet of plywood and had years on pine needles and growth surrounding it. When he concluded his official census taking business he asked the resident, Sandra Olsen the original owner, about the bus. They agreed they would be willing to sell it, it had just been sitting there for years and really wasn't going anywhere.

On
returning home my dad told about the bus and encouraged me to go take a look at it. I obliged and ended up purchasing the vehicle for a firm $1000! Not bad even though the transmission was obviously blown and the engine was laying in the dirt.

I returned a few days later with a friend, Greg Kaiser. Greg is a formidably large Native American whom I met while fighting forest fires. We hooked it up to his Ford Bronco and began to tow the vehicle back to Reno via Mt. Rose Highway. Luck would have it we lost the left rear transmission fork, wheel and tire. As I recall it seemed to balance just fine without the fourth wheel. I don't think we ever looked for that fourth wheel. If you are familiar with Mt. Rose Highway you know this could have been a very bad scene. The canyons on occasion will drop hundreds it not a thousand feet through thick and sparse timber.
